Advanced Education Named Exclusive K12 Canadian Partner for Aldebaran’s Interactive NAO Robot

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO, April 3, 2014 — Underscoring its commitment to provide Education Technology Solutions for every type of classroom environment, Advanced Education today announced that it has been named the exclusive Canadian education partner for Aldebaran’s interactive NAO robot, an artificial character with educational programs and detection capabilities.

NAO Robot

“We are honored to be the sole Canadian partner of Aldebaran’s NAO robot, one of the most engaging and interactive humanoid robots on the market today,” Advanced Co-President David Weatherhead said today. “Advanced Education is renowned for bringing the most innovative solutions to today’s classroom, and NAO is the educator’s newest ally.”

“Advanced Education is at the forefront of educational technology, and we know that more students will benefit as a result of our partnership,” Cedric Vaudel, Regional Manager of Aldebaran Robotics, said today. “The introduction of robotics to the classroom revolutionizes learning by providing an educational tool that adapts to all students and materials.”

The NAO robot, standing at 58-cm tall, recognizes and communicates with students, making for an exciting educational experience. As a programmable, autonomous humanoid, NAO constantly evolves so that it is able to run updated applications for students in a range of various subjects. With two cameras, 25 motors, four microphones, various touch sensors and an inertial measurement unit, the NAO robot possesses the ability to detect its surroundings.

In increasingly technology-based classrooms, NAO assists teachers with the development and progress of thousands of schoolchildren, university students, and researchers. NAO also cultivates a love for science from a young age, guiding students down the path towards discovering careers in technology and engineering.

NAO Robot

“NAO is a fascinating teaching tool thanks to its interactive applications and intuitive interface,” Weatherhead said. “It captures the attention of children while simultaneously promoting individual and group work. Advanced Education is proud to support such revolutionary technology.”

In addition, NAO is utilized as a classroom solution for special education through a custom program, ASK NAO (Autism Solution for Kids). The program supports special needs teachers with in-class tasks, helping children with autism to reach their full potential. With the specialized program, teachers can select and personalize tasks based on a child’s individual learning goals, motivators, internal states, and personality to maximize effectiveness.

For more information on the benefits of NAO in the classroom, visit Advanced Education’s website. To see Aldebaran’s NAO robot in action, watch this video.

Advanced Education Expands Samsung Partnership To Offer Chromebooks™

Advanced Education’s expanded technology programs for K-12 classrooms now include Samsung Chromebooks™, specially priced Galaxy Note 10.1 tablets and the Samsung School content management software.

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO, October 24, 2013 — Advanced Education, Canada’s premier AV and IT Educational Technology solutions provider for the K-12 education market, today announced that has expanded its partnership with Samsung to offer the Samsung Chromebook™ solution to its K-12 school customers. This gives school districts a popular and affordable option to bring high tech learning to classrooms, and adds to Advanced’s product offering which also includes Samsung GALAXY Note 10.1 tablets and the Samsung School classroom and content management software for tablets.

Samsung Chromebook“Advanced Education is honored to strengthen its partnership with Samsung by adding the Samsung Chromebook to the solution offering,” Advanced Vice President Mark McPherson said today. “IT Educational Technology represents the future of learning. In conjunction with the Samsung Galaxy tablet, the Samsung Chromebook will enable efficient classroom and content management to enhance the overall learning experience in K-12 classrooms.”

According to Paul Weatherhead, Advanced’s Product Manager for Samsung School and Chrome OS devices, Advanced is now offering the Samsung Chromebook along with the Google Chrome Management Console, a web-based device management solution, with plans to offer training and device management tools as well.

“In addition to the device and Web-based management console,” he said, “we will soon introduce additional services such as Chromebook training and professional development, mobile device management solutions, device tracking and device security solutions.”

Designed with the education market in mind, Google’s Chromebook Management Console makes it easy for IT administrators to deploy devices and centrally manage and scale a fleet of Chromebooks throughout a school district. The web-based management console lets administrators set up and manage users, applications and organizational policies across an entire fleet of Chrome devices, even if the devices are distributed across many classrooms or locations.

For any organization or school facing budget or IT support challenges, deploying Chrome OS devices such as the Samsung Chromebook in place of traditional computers can reduce the overall cost of IT support and device management, not to mention the time required to re-image computer assets each year.

“Combining the Samsung GALAXY Note 10.1 with the Samsung Chromebook and Google Chrome Management Console provides educators with the most advanced and manageable learning solution available,“ Weatherhead emphasized.

Advanced Education, a division of Advanced Inc., is at the forefront of the educational revolution by introducing and supporting the integration of interactive technology into classrooms throughout Ontario. The company assists with any type of integration solution from a single projector or SMART Board to plans for an entire district or enterprise.
