Advanced selected as Authorized Vendor for Ontario Education Collaborative Marketplace

Advanced is pleased to announce that after a lengthy RFP and review process, we have been awarded the status of authorized vendor under the AV/Educational Equipment contract for the Ontario Education Collaborative Marketplace (OECM).

OECM is focused on providing strategically sourced contracts and value-add service to Ontario’s education sector.  Their mission statement is tied to  leading collaborative strategic sourcing initiatives and promoting the adoption of leading integrated supply chain management practices for all of Ontario’s publicly funded educational institutions including School Boards, Colleges and Universities in Ontario.

We are very excited to have been selected as the vendor for these above institutions and in the categories of projectors, document cameras, projection screens, plasma and LCD displays, digital signage, TV stands / AV carts and overhead projectors.  Key manufacturing partners in these categories include AVmedia, Casio, Draper, Epson, Elmo, Hitachi, LG, Lumens and NEC.

In addition, we have been selected to provide the integrated E-classroom and lecture hall solution featuring products from Crestron, Draper, Extron and TOA.

Advanced updates Vendor of Record status with the Canadian Federal Government

Samsung upgrades SDP-860 digital presenter

Samsung has incorporated new features and functions into an upgraded version of the SDP-860 High Definition Digital Presenter.

Among the new features that users will find in the upgraded SDP-860 is a USB port to provide two-way communication for control of the camera via Samsung’s Viewer software whilst a new mini control window allows users to control the zoom, brightness and freeze functions.
Users will also find the Microscope mode much easier to use with the SDP-860 automatically correcting its preset lens settings when using the SML-860 Microscope lens, as well as providing better initial exposure settings for the user. An improved built-in microphone delivers better quality in-camera audio recording.

In addition, customers now have the option to choose to control the SDP-860 using the PC Control feature or via RS-232.

Epson Announces DC-11 Document Camera with Outstanding Image Quality, Performance and Versatile Teaching Tools

Epson DC-11 Allows Teachers to Capture, Create and Share Classroom Content

 

DENVER (ISTE, Booth 1846) – Advanced partner Epson America recently announced the Epson DC-11 document camera, designed to help K-12 classrooms promote a dynamic learning environment. Making it easy to display textbooks, experiments, and 3D objects, as well as allow other engaging interactive lessons, the DC-11 includes a host of classroom-centric features, including high quality imaging, easy-to-use features and connectivity.

The Epson DC-11 features a five megapixel sensor, 10x digital zoom, and 30 frames-per-second video at full resolution for stunning image quality and performance. With its large capture area, the DC-11 can display up to two full pages with clarity and detail. Using the convenient built-in microphone and included software, the DC-11 allows teachers to easily record audio and video to capture classroom lessons and student presentations, which can be easily uploaded to class websites for students who missed the lesson or are taking the class remotely1.

In addition, the convenient split-screen feature allows for easy sharing of live and captured images simultaneously. With the built-in microscope adapter, it is easy to share with the entire class a microscopic demonstration, much larger-than-life, eliminating the need for each student to take turns looking through the microscope.

New SMART Document Camera 330 is mixed reality ready

Document camera enables exploration of 2D, 3D, animated and audio-enriched content

DENVER, Colorado — June 28, 2010 — SMART Technologies announces the SMART Document Camera 330, the first document camera designed for education that is mixed reality ready.  The SMART Document Camera displays mixed reality content onto a SMART Board interactive whiteboard. Users can then view and interact with the content, which may include graphics, text, video and audio.

The document camera also integrates fully with SMART Notebook collaborative learning software. Without interrupting the flow of a lesson, teachers will be able to show enriched live images of 2D or 3D content, manipulate captured images from within their SMART Notebook lesson activity and then save images to SMART Notebook software’s Gallery for later use and review. Teachers and students can also use digital ink to write over images directly within a SMART Notebook page, keeping students engaged and focused on the content at hand. The SMART Document Camera 330 begins shipping globally at the end of June 2010.

Advanced Education renforce leur présence dans l’Est de l’Ontario avec le soutien de logiciels  et cours de formation professionnel, maintenant présentés en anglais et en français.

Nous sommes très heureux d’annoncer une nouvelle addition à l’équipe de consultants éducatif  chez Advanced – Bonnie Mickle – qui sera responsable d’offrir la formation professionnel et  le support de logiciels dans l’Est de l’Ontario avec une concentration sur la région d’Ottawa – en anglais et en français.

Né et élevé à Ottawa et diplômé de la Faculté d’éducation de l’Université d’Ottawa, Bonnie a récemment travaillé pour The Ottawa Centre for Research and Innovation en collaboration avec le conseil scolaire d’Ottawa-Carleton comme intégrateur de technologies pour l’éducation où elle a aidé les enseignants dans l’intégration des diverses formes de technologie dans leurs leçons. En plus, Bonnie à de vastes expériences en enseignement dans les salles de classe du jardin au 12ieme année,  au sujet de français cadre, religion en immersion française, anglais et informatique dans les conseils scolaires d’Ottawa.

En ce qui concerne la technologie, Bonnie connaît et a utilisé la majorité des logiciels pris en charge par la plupart des districts et est à l’aise tant avec les plateformes PC et Mac. Elle apporte une vaste connaissance du système éducatif avec une compréhension solide des bénéfices qui peuvent être obtenus en mettant en œuvre la technologie la plus récente dans le milieu scolaire. Commentant cette annonce, le directeur du développement professionnel John Palbom a     déclaré: «Nous sommes ravis d’avoir Bonnie a joigne notre équipe de consultants éducatif. On voit une demande augmenter pour la formation pédagogique  à Ottawa et les environs et maintenant que nous sommes également en mesure d’offrir à notre gamme complète de cours populaires, en français, ca répond à un besoin de longue date dans la province ».
