Advanced awarded Contract to Design New GE Energy Head Office

Project to include design and installation of one of the largest videowalls in Canada

Advanced,a leading supplier of audiovisual solutions, has offered clients innovative consulting solutions for more than two decades. Seeking to leverage the company’s industry expertise, GE Energy recently awarded Advanced an exclusive audiovisual contract to provide collaborative audio visual solutions and display and design solutions for its new Canadian head office in Markham, Ontario.

“Advanced was selected from a list of top AV solution providers in the country,” said Mark Mulford, President & CEO. “We are excited to have won the bid to provide an impressive audio visual solution for GE’s new flagship facility in Markham.”

After a year-long evaluation process, Advanced was short-listed for this opportunity.  Against some of the top audiovisual companies in Canada, Advanced was selected as the GE Partner, after demonstrating our videowall expertise by way of hands-on demonstrations, held both in Mississauga, Ontario and New York City.  This level of expertise helped to solidify both the technical and post-installation support capabilities of Advanced.  Advanced was then awarded the exclusive contract to design and supply audiovisual and collaborative communication solutions for the new GE head office.

The multi-million-dollar contract includes the design and installation of one of the largest videowalls in Canada within GE Energy’s state-of-the-art customer experience center using the innovative display products from Prysm. Advanced is also slated to design four floors of AV and collaborative communications solutions, including Smart Technologies and Polycom videoconferencing. At the new GE Grid IQ research collaboration center, the company will collect and analyze Ontario’s smart meter data to create new ways to boost energy conservation and shift more electricity use to off peak times.

The project is currently in the development phase with installation completion is expected later this fall. Stay tuned to www.advanced-inc.com for more information on Advanced’s leading work with GE Energy’s Canadian head office.

SMART Interactive Whiteboard Technology Helps Autistic Children Learn and Communicate

Advanced Education can provide life-changing learning solutions to non-verbal students

Thousands of educators in Canada and the United States have been turning to interactive whiteboards in their quest to improve the learning outcomes of autistic students. With researches exploring how technology benefits the learning disabled, new evidence is coming forth that shows interactive whiteboards and recently, iPads can improve the communication skills of children with autism.

SMART Technologies Inc., through Advanced Education, has been providing Canadian classrooms with interactive whiteboard technology for years. The large screens on a SMART board are controlled by touch rather than a mouse or keyboard, providing an interactive learning environment. It has been proven that autistic children using interactive SMART boards can undergo a breakthrough in speech development.

Autism is a disability that affects communication and social interaction. Between 10 and 25 percent of autistic people are thought to be “non-verbal.” Autistic students require routine and high visual processing, so SMART Boards are effective learning tools because they make the repetition required much more interesting and engaging to the student.

SMART products and software provide an entertaining way for children with autism to build on their strengths. While it is difficult for autistic students to follow verbal instructions, the technology and interaction with images can help build pattern recognition.

Advanced Education understands the importance of finding new approaches to teaching learning disabled children. Knowing that an autistic child understands language has encouraged school boards, teachers and parents to find alternative ways for the children to communicate.
