CTV/Bell Media Selects Advanced Inc. for London 2012 Summer Olympic Project

AV integrator installs impressive videowall display for Olympic coverage

Advanced Inc. is proud to be a leading provider of AV solutions for CTV’s coverage of the London 2012 Summer Olympics. Advanced was selected for the large project based on extensive experience in broadcast solutions and a long positive history with CTV/Bell Media.

Two impressive Orion video walls will be used on location in the UK to create an immersive environment for the CTV Olympic coverage set that will broadcast live event coverage across Canada starting July 27 until August 12 2012. The large video walls will consist of two 7 x 3 display panels, joined together with ultra-thin bezels to provide bright, seamless images. Orion was chosen to provide the 42 total unit video walls because of their reputation for clear, crisp visual display technologies.

An expert team of technicians from Advanced will also be on hand to manage installation of the video walls and provide on-site support throughout the Olympics. The set will also be equipped to deliver both English and French broadcasts across Canada.

Mark Mulford, President at Advanced said, “We are excited and thrilled that we once again get to work with the great team at CTV/Bell Media and can provide our products and services to them on location in London England prior to the event and during the two weeks of the Summer Olympics.”

New iPad App Lets Students Bring SMART Notebook Software With Them Wherever They Go

Advanced Education can help transform the way students learn with innovative teaching technologies

As a leader in providing SMART Technologies to classrooms across Ontario, Advanced Education is excited about the recently released SMART Notebook™ app for the iPad. Now students can use the collaborative learning software wherever, whenever.

Over six million teachers and 40 million students in 175 countries are already using SMART Notebook technology. The software lets educators add interactivity into their learning materials, making for creative and interesting lessons and thereby increasing student participation. The new app will benefit students even further by enabling learning and engagement outside of the classroom.

Students and teachers with an iPad can use many of the tools associated with the SMART Board® interactive whiteboards. With stellar features such as Object Control, which lets you delete, rotate, move and scale objects, and Pen Tools, which makes it possible to write onto the SMART Notebook software page, the iPad application provides a seamless transition between whole-class and personalized learning.

Now students and teachers can share files via email or file-sharing websites to review material and complete assignments. This will make it easy for teachers to evaluate homework and tasks, while saving time. Since the same material can be viewed on both the interactive whiteboard displays and the iPad, student material can be taken home to complete then displayed in class for everyone to review. Besides being able to write, erase and move objects on the screen, students can also use the iPad camera roll to insert images into the SMART Notebook software pages.

SMART Technologies Inc. is a leader in collaboration solutions that have transformed teaching and learning. The new SMART Notebook app for iPad is just one of many solutions the company offers to improve the way people work and collaborate.
