The NE3 Family of Schools from Toronto District School Board came together to celebrate their Interactive Whiteboard journey over the year. Back in November 2009 they had almost 100 teachers and admin at John Buchan Sr. P.S.
On Tuesday, May 25th the NE3 Family of Schools came together at the Terry Fox Public School from 12:30 – 3:30. The attendees were able to see all the great work the teachers had accomplished to support student learning.
The NE3 goals for the year were:
1) Increase student engagement and achievement through differentiated instruction.
2) Further develop the culture of collaboration through ICT.
3) Incorporate IWBs as effective teaching/learning tools in the classroom.
Teachers were split in groups to demonstrate to other educators what they were able to do in their classrooms over the year using a SMART Board and other interactive whiteboards. They described their trials, the amount of preparation envolved, how much the children enjoyed technology.
Teachers that had the most success were the ones that came up with new and fresh concepts & ideas, not just tranfering books or past ideas to the screen. These educators were absolutely estatic when seeing how engaging technology could be in the classroom.
