Schools with special needs get huge lift from Advanced technology
Chisholm Academy
Advanced Education secured a special grant in order to assist the Chisholm Academy to implement their first SMART Board in 2008.
In addition, our Education Consultants customized a PD (Professional Development) plan specifically around special needs as well as helping staff to begin using the technology.
Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB)
In the summer of 2008, UCDSB implemented a pilot project using SMART Boards to integrate autistic students into the regular classroom.
Within weeks of starting the project, teachers were reporting exciting results. From the beginning of the project, UCDSB has worked closely with Advanced Education, to acquire SMART Boards with stands for classroom mobility and training on how to use the technology.
Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB)
As soon as the SMART Table was launched into the Canadian market, TCDSB made plans to use it in their schools as an educational tool to strengthen pre-literacy, numeracy and social skills for children aged 3 to 6 years. This approach would mean students could arrive at school better prepared to participate in cooperative learning activities.
York University PhD project
Advanced Education is partnering with a PhD student in psychology at York University, who is planning to do her dissertation on the use of a SMART Board in combination with IntelliTools’ Classroom Suite 4 for adolescents with mental health issues (and ensuing behavioral and academic problems) who are in tertiary care treatment.
